Islam Nasrallah: Teaching Artificial Intelligence is a Strategic Step That Should Be Expanded Across All Ministries

Dr. Islam Nasrallah, a digital transformation expert and technology investor, commended the Prime Minister’s decision to include artificial intelligence (AI) as a subject in the first-year secondary school curriculum starting from the 2025/2026 academic year. He emphasized that this step represents a strategic shift in Egypt’s educational trajectory, positioning the country among global leaders in investing in digital human capital.
Nasrallah stressed that teaching AI to students is not a luxury but an imperative necessity driven by global changes and the demands of the future job market. He noted that introducing this subject in secondary education reflects the state’s awareness of the importance of modern technology in building generations capable of innovation and global competitiveness.
He added that this initiative should be the starting point for a broader plan to expand the application of AI and digital transformation across various ministries and government institutions. The goal is to enhance the efficiency of services provided to citizens, improve the work environment, and contribute to achieving Egypt’s vision for digital transformation while promoting transparency and combating bureaucracy.
Nasrallah underscored the urgent need for legislative and legal reforms to grant ministries the flexibility to adopt AI technologies and establish a comprehensive digital infrastructure.
He also highlighted the importance of creating governance and oversight mechanisms to ensure the safe and responsible use of these technologies, safeguarding citizens’ rights and strengthening cybersecurity.
He further explained that extending this initiative to all sectors would not only enhance service quality but also elevate institutional performance, boost productivity, and reduce the time and cost of transactions. Nasrallah pointed out that AI has become an indispensable tool for supporting decision-making and delivering smart services that align with the aspirations of Egyptian citizens.
In conclusion, Nasrallah affirmed that Egypt possesses the human and technological capabilities to lead the region in digital transformation and AI, provided there is coordinated collaboration between the government and the private sector, alongside policies that support investment in technology and advanced technological education.
